Disambiguation[rætta wikitekst]

In iawiki disambiguation for people is done by year of birth, this

  • does not reduce a person to one occupation
  • is short
  • is hopefully more distinctive
  • can be changed easily to a more precise date if that is known
  • is language neutral - several Wikipedias, Commons, and other WMF projects could use the same link

Infoboxes for humans[rætta wikitekst]

Infobox removals[rætta wikitekst]

IP-adress user, why did you remove the infobox/person and replaced it with infobox/human in some articles like you did in this edit? I told you that you could add the new infobox in articles where we don't have any infobox. Please don't remove infoboxes from articles here! The new infobox which you created have less info than the Fyrimynd:Infobox person, so it is not an improvement to replace it. --EileenSanda (kjak) 28. mai 2016 kl. 17:07 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation of individual articles[rætta wikitekst]

User:EileenSanda, there are several Martin Holm, ia:Martin Holm (disambiguation) lists two from Sweden and one from Faroe. 91.9.102.160 24. mai 2016 kl. 19:57 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, thes Faroese one died in 1970, I have added the info to Wikidata. No need to have a disambiguationpage here as we only have a page about the Faroese Martin Holm. --EileenSanda (kjak) 24. mai 2016 kl. 20:05 (UTC)[reply]

User:EileenSanda, could you move Klæmint Olsen to Klæmint Olsen (1990) so that Klæmint Olsen can be a disambiguation page? 91.9.119.49 27. mai 2016 kl. 16:02 (UTC)[reply]

I don't agree that we need a diambiguation regarding Klæmint Olsen. It is not a common name and I am guessing that the football player is a descendant of the politician. Anyway, the football player is known by more people today than a man who died over 100 years ago. I think that the title shoul be for the football player who is currently the top goal scorer in the top Faroese football league. --EileenSanda (kjak) 27. mai 2016 kl. 16:32 (UTC)[reply]
And instead you added distracting information to the article of the sportsperson [1]. I think this is ugly. That there is another person with that name has nothing to do with that person - it is not done that way on each person article where the name is ambiguous. I think it is a disease coming from the English Wikipedia. 91.9.116.71 28. mai 2016 kl. 12:07 (UTC)[reply]
The football player Klæmint Olsen already had an infobox, I can't see any need of another one which has much less info, so I removed it. --EileenSanda (kjak) 27. mai 2016 kl. 16:43 (UTC)[reply]
This has nothing to do with the topic of this section, which is "disambiguation". 91.9.116.71 28. mai 2016 kl. 12:07 (UTC)[reply]

Wikidata labels[rætta wikitekst]

I made this edit and hope that soon items having Wikidata:Occupation: will appear at [2]. If Q-values show up, or titles in upper case, then one can go and edit in Wikidata. 91.9.119.49 27. mai 2016 kl. 15:55 (UTC)[reply]

I don't like that there are categories like this one: "Bólkur:Wikidata:Occupation:politikari, sýslumaður" - does that mean that there will be categories for all combinations of occupations? I can't see any need of it. I saw that category (which is not created) pn thecarticle about Klæmint Olsen (1842) --EileenSanda (kjak) 27. mai 2016 kl. 16:51 (UTC)[reply]
As said earlier I don't know yet how to split multiple values, so that is why combinations show up. The edit above was made to make occupations that are used in fowiki via Wikidata visible. It was there to help Faroese speaking editors to find missing labels. 91.9.119.49 27. mai 2016 kl. 19:01 (UTC)[reply]

Brúkari:EileenSanda decided to remove this missing label detection feature [3] without indicating that she had fixed all labels. Very disappointing. 91.9.116.71 28. mai 2016 kl. 11:50 (UTC)[reply]

A bot could add {{{infobox/article/human}}} to all articles where it does not exist yet and that have P31:Q5 (instanceOf=human). 91.9.119.49 27. mai 2016 kl. 16:09 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think that it is a good idea to add the new infobox on all articles, not yet anyway. Football players and cyclists and swimmers, and other person which already have informative infoboxes don't need another one. --EileenSanda (kjak) 27. mai 2016 kl. 16:47 (UTC)[reply]
The bot could also add it only for those where you think "don't need" does not apply. For me "don't need" is not a way of discussing things. I suggested to add it, but you say "don't need". Well, maybe you "don't need" it. but maybe others do. 91.9.119.49 27. mai 2016 kl. 19:10 (UTC)[reply]
I don't understand why you think it is good to have two infoboxes in an article? I don't see that elsewhere, unless a person is both a sportsperson and a politician i.e. I think that there could be more info from Wikidata in the new infoboxes, info like which party a politician belongs to, which period he was prime minister, health minister etc. I have seen that the info has been added to some politicians, but it does not appear in the infoboxes. And then there is the problem with the creation of categories which are useless. Do you know what I mean? --EileenSanda (kjak) 27. mai 2016 kl. 19:46 (UTC)[reply]
I think that the new Wikidata-infoboxes are very good and easy to add for articles which don't have an infobox yet, and as you mentioned, I or others can work with adding missing info to Wikidata. There are lots of Faroese persons who have only very little info added on Wikidata, I have added quite a lot since you started to add the infoboxes. --EileenSanda (kjak) 27. mai 2016 kl. 19:50 (UTC)[reply]
"I don't understand why you think it is good to have two infoboxes in an article?" - I don't understand that neither since it is not like that. I don't think it is good two have two infoboxes in an article. But it seems that you think so if "a person is both a sportsperson and a politician". I think for humans there should be only one. If information is missing in Wikidata and/or the automated infobox, then this is made visible by adding the automated infobox to all human articles. E.g. I added to Jan Berg Jørgensen, then I saw the birth date is missing and I added the birth date in Wikidata. But it is inefficient to add the infobox manually if an easy way of adding them via bot exists. I better contribute to Wikipedias where people like to use bots for simple repetitive tasks. 91.9.116.71 28. mai 2016 kl. 12:02 (UTC)[reply]
