Leinkja til onnur mál[rætta wikitekst]

Hey. Gott at síggja, at tú ert aktiv/ur á føroysku Wikipediuni :) Men tað er bara eitt ið tú gloymir, tú leinkjar ikki síðarnar við aðrar síður á t.d. ensku wikipediu. Trýst á "Add links" til vinstru, so kemur ein dialogboks fram, fyll út t.d. en í "Language" teigin, so kanst tú velja "English", og í "Page" teigin kanst tú skriva síðu-heitið, og síðan trýstir tú á "Link with page", og so koma slóðir til øll onnur mál ið síðan er skrivað á. Vinarlig heilsan EileenSanda (talk) 9. jan 2014 kl. 17:01 (UTC)

Føroyska wikipedia nr. 134 + Friesland ella Frísaland?[rætta wikitekst]

Hey. Tú hevur verið so raskur/røsk at stovna nýggjar greinar her, at føroyska Wikipedia nú er farin frá nr. 135 til nr. 134 á hesum yvirlitinum :), sum er grundað á tal av greinum (sigur tó onki um kvalitetin av greinum). Óført! Og so nakað annað, síggi at tú hevur stovnað greinina Friesland, tað man vera tað sama sum vit á føroyskum nevna Frísaland, ha? Tá vit nú hava eitt føroyskt navn fyri henda niðurlendska landslutin, hevði tað so ikki verið best um vit fluttu greinina til Frísaland og heldur høvdu Friesland sum ávísingarsíðu (altso ein síða sum peikar víðari til Frísaland)? Vh. EileenSanda (talk) 19. jan 2014 kl. 15:19 (UTC)

Hey! I don't speak much Faroese (but understand written texts better), that's why I write only stubs. I know that the quality counts too, but I hope it is still any help. When it comes to Friesland/Frísaland -> wouldn't bare 'Frísaland' rather refer to the whole region of Frisia [1] instead of the province in the Netherlands [2]? Then there should be maybe a page 'Frísaland (Niðurlond)' or 'Frísaland (landslutur)' for the province? Or maybe we could keep the name of the province as Friesland, create a page like 'Frísaland (landslutur)' that redirects there and keep 'Frísaland' for the article about the whole region (I like it best)? You decide :) Apart from that, if we change/redirect Frísaland to Friesland, than maybe Suðurholland to Zuid-Holland too, etc?--Ikkefast (talk) 19. jan 2014 kl. 18:55 (UTC)
Hi, ok, I didn't know that you are not Faroese, ok, that explains the stubs only :) Well, I am not sure if Frísaland is = the landslutur Friesland of today, the Friesian people who lived in the Faroes lived here 1000 years ago until around 1350 is believed. But this sourse says Frísaland, landslutur when they talk about Nordic languages and languages in the same family group: Norðurlendsk mál í fortíð og nútíð (they say: niðurlendski landsparturin Frísaland). What do you think? It the Frísaland from the 14th century and earlier the same as todays Friesland? If not, then it would be best if we had two different articles, one about Frísaland and one about the province Friesland. EileenSanda (talk) 19. jan 2014 kl. 19:13 (UTC)
Today's province Friesland is not the same as the whole 'old' one [3], so yes, 2 articles are best anyway :)--Ikkefast (talk) 20. jan 2014 kl. 03:00 (UTC)

10.000 articles[rætta wikitekst]

Hello, I just wanted to say thanks for your contributions to the Faroese Wikipdia, you have created many articles. We have 10.000 articles today and tomorrow this Wikipedia has 10 years birthday, congrats to all of us :) EileenSanda (talk) 29. mai 2014 kl. 12:39 (UTC)

Hello! Yes, congratulations to us :) Apart from that, you are very active as an administrator. Without you, this Wikipedia would have so many vandalisms in articles. I think that Faroese is a really fascinating language, so it deserves to have some contributions in its Wikipedia :) --Ursusmaritimus (talk) 29. mai 2014 kl. 13:08 (UTC)
Actually, I've just realized how global account works and how to activate it. Way too late, otherwise I wouldn't have added all the interwiki links under IP addresses :) --Ursusmaritimus (talk) 30. mai 2014 kl. 01:02 (UTC)
Interwiki links under IP addresses? I don't understand what you mean? Do you have a global account? I don't. EileenSanda (talk) 30. mai 2014 kl. 01:06 (UTC)
I meant Wikidata. When you go to seinastu broytingar and click show Wikidata, there is my IP, instead of my username. I was always just too lazy to create an account on Wikidata and I can see that with a global account I wouldn't need to do it. I have a global account now. But it seems, you can't undo this setting? --Ursusmaritimus (talk) 30. mai 2014 kl. 01:35 (UTC)
Ok, I understand now what you mean. I don't see the changes made on Wikidata here under "Seinastu broytingar", I have chosen "Hide Wikidata", because I didn't find it relevant for me, and sometimes there are so many changes there that it makes it more difficult for me to check the Faroese Wikipedia for vandalism, mistakes etc. I mostly use Wikidata only to connect pages with other languages. I have made some translations to Faroese there though. EileenSanda (talk) 30. mai 2014 kl. 06:55 (UTC)

It was good tat you mentioned Wikidata, I just went to have a look there and realized that I have chosen wrong language code for Norwegian bokmål Wikipedia, I have chosen no, but it should be nb, so others there had extra work because of my mistake, I must try to remember that from now on. I link to the Norwegian bokmål Wikipedia when I translate a page about a Faroese politician or other pages about Faroese politics, because the page is already o the Norwegian and often not on any other Wiki. Question about your wish to delete redirects[rætta wikitekst]

Hello. I am wondering why you wish to delete some redirects to counties, i.e. Ukrayina which redirected to Ukraina. In the article on the top right that name is written below the Ukrainian name. Is it wrong to have this redirect? I didn't create it, but I am just wordering why is should be deleted. EileenSanda (talk) 15. jan 2015 kl. 13:35 (UTC)

Hey. I think that some redirects are very useless. For example, the ones with Ukraine or Russia. It is some phonetic transcription/transliteration from a foreign language and alphabet. You can do such transcriptions in several ways and many of them (especially the one with Russia) do not seem very scientific. It is just to show an approximate pronunciation. If one knows the foreign language (like Russian, in this case), one will use the proper foreign name. If one knows Faroese, one will use the Faroese term too. So actually, it is quite useless to have redirects for such vague phonetic transriptions. Furthermore, there are not any links from other pages including such a transliterations. That's why I mark similar redirects to delete. What do you think? --Ursusmaritimus (talk) 15. jan 2015 kl. 13:55 (UTC)

Ok, perhaps you are right, that they are quite useless, they are also made by that German user who got himself blocked globally for making useless edits like that one, many of them are useful like the Swedish names for the various "kommun" where the Faroese word i "kommuna". He had several usernames like Werddemer, Sweeper, Sweepit, Sweepy, VerdunamMoa, made also many edits regaring the number of population, often wrong or old numbers. EileenSanda (talk) 15. jan 2015 kl. 14:04 (UTC)
Yeah, some of them can be more useful, like those with kommun/kommuna, because the names with kommun are official names in Swedish. Another useless example: [4] - a more scientific transliteration would be Bhārat Gaṇarājya. But would anyone use it at all? --Ursusmaritimus (talk) 15. jan 2015 kl. 14:24 (UTC)
I think you are right, it is not likely that someone will look here for Bhārat Ganarājya in order to find an article about India. I have deleted it. EileenSanda (talk) 15. jan 2015 kl. 14:34 (UTC)
Do you have a list of all the redirects or how do you find them? If there are many a bot could mark them or delete them. --MGA73 (talk) 21. jan 2015 kl. 21:13 (UTC)
You can find all the pages here and the redirects are in italics: [5]. Apart from that, you can look at the contributions of the usernames that Eileen has mentioned before. Maybe a bot could help, but I guess that some of the redirects should remain. --Ursusmaritimus (talk) 21. jan 2015 kl. 22:13 (UTC)
Yes, some of them should remain, like the Swedish names for the Swedish "kommun", which here is named with the Faroese word "kommuna", I think it is useful to have a redirect in the original language. I should have blocked that person a long time before he could create all those useless redirects. EileenSanda (talk) 21. jan 2015 kl. 23:28 (UTC)

Faroese dictionaries free of charge for everyone[rætta wikitekst]

Hello, the web-based Faroese dictionaries of Sprotin are open and free of charge for everyone now (since yesterday), you can find them here if you are interested. EileenSanda (talk) 17. jan 2015 kl. 15:30 (UTC)

Hey, thanks a lot :) --Ursusmaritimus (talk) 17. jan 2015 kl. 17:24 (UTC)

Bógvur?[rætta wikitekst]

Hey. Hvat meinar tú við, tá ið tú skrivar "bógvur", sum t.d. her: Lutefisk er norskur matur, ið er bógvur av fiski. Eg kenni bara orðið bógvur frá t.d. seyði og øðrum djórum, á enskum er tað "shoulder". Á føroyskum tosa vit ofta um tjógv (leg, thigh) og bógvur (shoulder) av seyðakjøli (from lamb). I don't understand "ið er bógvur av fiski", which is a shoulder of fish? --EileenSanda (kjak) 31. mar 2016 kl. 12:37 (UTC)

Hey! Sorry for this awkward edit. I meant "made of fish". I understand a lot of Faroese, but I am still very bad at writing... In this article Louisiana there is some text: "Jambalaya er kreolfranskur matur, ið er bógvur av fiski, rækjum og rísi." Is it correct here? --Ursusmaritimus (kjak) 1. apr 2016 kl. 16:41 (UTC)
"Made of fih" in Faroese: "Gjørt av fiski". No, it is not correct in the other article about Louisiana. It is written by a non-Faroese. I will corrwct it. --EileenSanda (kjak) 1. apr 2016 kl. 22:40 (UTC)
