Usage

As supported by Wikipedia:Wikimedia sister projects, this template may be used to add a Wikinews link to a Wikipedia article. Note that this template generates an InterWikimedia link and is not intended to represent sources for Wikpedia articles.

Links to pages on the Wikinews site:

• Box format
  • {{Wikinews|SomeArticleTitle}}: Creates box with link to article SomeArticleTitle.
  • {{Wikinews category|SomeCategoryTitle}}: Creates box with link to category SomeCategoryTitle.
• Line format
  • {{Wikinews-inline|SomeArticleTitle}}: Creates a line with link to article SomeArticleTitle.
• To link in-line with other text, create an interwiki link in the format: [[Wikinews:SomeArticleTitle|reference to the Wikinews article]].

Location

If using a large, graphical template produces odd layout problems, like the excessive white space shown on the right of this screenshot, then switch to a different sister template.

N Do not place this template in a section all by itself.

N Do not place this template in a section containing columns.

This template is normally placed at the top of the WP:External links section. If the news story primarily relates to one part of the article, it may be placed at the top of the appropriate section. Please do not create an otherwise-empty ==External links== section for this template. Instead, consider using {{Wikinews-inline}}, or placing this template at the top of the last section on the page (usually a citation-related section). See Wikipedia:Wikimedia sister projects for further recommendations about the best choice of template for various situations.

On disambiguation pages, this template should be listed above other text, but below any cleanup templates, images, infoboxes or navboxes.
