English: Tórshavn is the capital of the Faroe Islands. This photo was taken from Vágsbotnur in the western harbour of Tórshavn. The street is called Tórsgøta. The red building to the left is Miðlahúsið, which runs the newspaper Sosialurin and the radio station Rás2. The red building on the other side of Tórsgøta is Hotel Tórshavn and the restaurant Hvonn. Tórsgøta is a cultural street; the National Theatre of the Faroe Islands is in Tórsgøta and sometimes there are musical events i.e. Ólavsøkukonsertin (the Olavsoka Concert) or the Asfalt Music Event. There are also several buildings there which can be used for concert and other cultural events. |
